Religious faith and spiritual beliefs are important to many Americans, and people benefit in countless ways from the outreach efforts of churches and congregations. Faith-based programs, for example, have been particularly embraced in African American neighborhoods and contributed to quality of life.
BC is committed to help nurture faith-based programs, which have an important role to play in encouraging healthy families. Faith communities' meetings and conferences are among the events BC grants have supported.
Here is an example of a faith-based program that received support from BC Powder through the "Working Where It Counts" program:
Hands of Compassion International of Wake County is a faith-based organization seeking to provide humanitarian services to diverse communities using local churches and pastors as vehicles for social and spiritual change. In addition to an international medical program, the organization has been successful in developing a computer-training program for youth, KidzConnect. BC Powder has provided support to the KidzConnect program which uses technology and lessons to help youth at-risk formulate visions for their future and plans to accomplish them.
