Supporting the Arts and Helping Families
Healthy families are the foundation of any vibrant community, and the arts and culture enrich life in countless ways. BC is honored to help fund initiatives that support parents and children, especially at vulnerable times in their lives. We also are proud to help bring arts education and events to people of all ages.

Over the past decades, BC has given back to the communities where our customers live and work. Through "Working Where it Counts," many nonprofit and civic organizations, particularly in Raleigh/Durham, NC, and the African American community, have benefited from BC's support. Groups helped by BC include the Women's Empowerment Expo, Aggie-Eagle Classic, and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) tournament.

Here are two examples of civic & social programs that received support from BC Powder through the "Working Where It Counts" program.
  • Walltown Children's Theatre will use funds from the BC Powder "Working Where It Counts" program to support its Mobile Arts program that will bring arts programming (i.e. piano, ballet, hip-hop, fencing, and acting) directly to children who live in low-income neighborhoods and lack transportation to get to the Walltown school. Walltown has been thriving in a historic African-American community for nearly four years, providing professional instruction in performing arts.

  • The Wesley Shelter of Wilson County provides shelter and support for domestic violence victims and their children, homeless women and their children, displaced homemakers, victims of child abuse, victims of sexual assault, and adolescent parents. BC Powder awarded funds to the Wesley Shelter to help reach its goal in assisting the women in rebuilding their lives, protecting their children, and providing resources for the children to have a better opportunity of meeting their greatest potential.
